SculpSure® & Body Contouring

If you're like most people, you have some areas of your body that you don't love. Maybe you have a pooch around your waist, or perhaps you have some stubborn thigh fat that won't go away. SculpSure® is an FDA-cleared treatment that can help you get rid of unwanted fat without surgery or downtime. We'll explain how SculpSure works and why it may be the right choice for you. Edgebrook Dermatology is proud to offer this service to patients in the Rockford area.

What Is SculpSure?

SculpSure is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive body contouring treatment that helps reduce stubborn fat pockets in problem areas such as the belly, love handles, thighs, and back. SculpSure uses targeted laser energy to heat and destroy fat cells, with no downtime or surgery required. Each treatment session takes as little as 25 minutes, and patients typically see results in as little as 6 weeks. Optimal results are visible after 12 weeks of the final treatment session.

Am I a Good Candidate for SculpSure?

If you're considering SculpSure for body contouring, you may be wondering if you're a good candidate. SculpSure is an FDA-cleared fat reduction device that’s safe for men and women.

SculpSure can help you achieve a slimmer, more contoured appearance, but it is not a weight-loss solution. To be a good candidate for SculpSure, you should be at or near your ideal body weight. You should also have realistic expectations for the results of the treatment.

SculpSure is ideal for people within 10 to 20 pounds of their ideal weight with a BMI of around 30. Despite its name, SculpSure is not a weight-loss treatment. Diet and exercise are essential to controlling your weight. However, sometimes a healthy lifestyle isn’t enough to reach your goals in specific areas, targetting stubborn pockets.

To be a good candidate, you should:

  1. Be seeking non-invasive fat reduction
  2. Have realistic expectations for results
  3. Be in good physical health
  4. Have pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise
  5. Be following a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and keeping hydrated

How Many SculpSure Treatments Will I Need?

The number of SculpSure treatments you will need will depend on your goals and the amount of fat you wish to remove. Typically, most patients need an average of 4 treatments in total. Ultimately, your SculpSure provider will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of how many treatments you will need after assessing your situation.

What Happens During a SculpSure Treatment?

During a SculpSure treatment, a device is placed on the skin and emits laser energy to the targeted area. The laser energy heats up and destroys the fat cells while the surrounding tissue is unharmed. The body then eliminates the treated fat cells over the next few weeks through the lymphatic system.

Most patients see a noticeable reduction in fat in the treated area after just one treatment. However, a series of treatments can often provide the most dramatic improvement. SculpSure is a safe and effective way to achieve a more contoured body without surgery or downtime.

When Can I Resume Normal Activities?

SculpSure doesn't require downtime - you can resume your daily activities immediately after your appointment. The treated part of your body may feel mildly uncomfortable and tender--similar to how your muscles feel when you exercise intensely. Following SculpSure, patients are strongly encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly.

How Long Do SculpSure Results Last?

SculpSure treatment results are considered permanent. Fat cells that have been liquefied can take between 6 and 12 weeks to travel through your lymphatic system and be flushed out. Fat cells, however, cannot grow back once destroyed. Only the remaining cells can expand.

The most common areas treated are the belly, inner thighs, hips, and lower back although we are able to treat most areas of the body. JuvaShape laser uses Radiofrequency technology to help flush cellulite and fat and tighten skin. Our JuvaShape laser is able to focus on skin tightening which is perfect for loose, sagging skin after weight loss, pregnancy, or general aging skin. Common areas tightened are loose skin under the chin and/or neck, "batwings" under the upper arms, abdomen, and along the inner thighs.
